As another eventful year at Fraser Valley Regional Library comes to a close, we’re excited to share the titles our community checked out again and again. From gripping novels to family favourites and music picks, here are 2025’s most popular books, movies and music at FVRL. 

Our “most popular” lists were compiled based on library circulation and checkouts of materials released in the last 12 months.

With rich world-building and complex themes of control, courage and hope, this prequel captivated teens and adults.

Dog Man: Big Jim Begins by Dav Pilkey

Our youngest readers cheered for everyone’s favourite heroic canine in Dog Man: Big Jim Begins. Dav Pilkey’s humour, heart and bold cartoon style once again delivered a fun and energetic reading experience that kept kids coming back for more. 

Popular books for children also included: Wings of Fire: Winter Turning by Tui Sutherland, I Survived the Great Molasses Flood, 1919 by Georgia Ball and Baby-Sitters Little Sister: Karen’s Prize by Shauna J. Grant.

Family audiences and movie lovers turned out in force for A Minecraft Movie, making it FVRL’s most-checked-out film in 2025. Based on the beloved video game, this motion picture adventure brought the pixelated world to life with humour, creativity and blockbuster energy — and captured the imaginations of all ages. 

Popular movies also included: Thunderbolts: The New Avengers, Jurassic World: Rebirth and Sinners.

Most Popular Music Album: 
Greatest Hits, Volume 2 by Blue Rodeo

Our music fans turned up the volume on Greatest Hits, Volume 2 by Canadian icons Blue Rodeo. Released in March 2025 as a celebration of the band’s 40-year career, this compilation brought together beloved tracks spanning decades, making it a top choice for FVRL’s music listeners.

Popular music albums also included: Mayhem by Lady Gaga, A Complete Unknown: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy by Teddy Swims.
