The ChompSaw is like a hole punch operating at a high-speed that appears to “bite” or “chomp” its way through materials (cardboard, paper, felt).
What can be used:
- Best size is between 2-3 mm thick
- Single-wall corrugated cardboard (3–4 mm)
- Thin cardboard packaging (1–2 mm)
- Cardstock / Paper /Posterboard
- Flannel
You can try pushing down the cardboard using the scoring tool to make cutting easier.
What not to use:
- Foam board
- Metal
- Plastic / Acrylic
- MDF / Wood
- Foam
- Heavily glued cardboard
Avoid sticky stuff! Cutting over tape or glue is not good for the ChompSaw!
The ChompSaw runs at about 70–75 decibels, which is roughly the volume of a household vacuum. ChompSaw conducted safety testing to ensure our machine is safe for ears (especially kids) but understand that the noise can feel a little loud.
While not included, if you are sensitive to sound, we recommend using ear protection (not included) to make the experience more comfortable.
We recommend visiting the main ChompSaw website www.Chompshop.com. This website is full of useful information, resources and a learning hub.
Blinking white light means drawer not inserted right.
- Remove the drawer
- Put it back in and try again.
*Note* If the drawer is not seated properly the fan will run and but the Chomping action will not turn on.
Blinking RED means the chomp saw has overheated and will need to cool down for awhile. Remove the dust drawer, turn the on button on to run the fan. The blade won’t move without the drawer inserted, and the fan will cool the unit down.
A solid RED light indicated the motor has stalled. Bring it to an FVRL service desk and let staff know a solid red light appeared.
