Nature Pack at FVRL

FVRL offers easy-to-use, Nature Packs for loan.

The library is committed to the vibrant health of our communities as well as the planet we share. This kit is designed to help connect you with nature and the practice of mindfulness. Everyone can enjoy the mental and physical benefits of spending time in nature.

Borrowing a Nature Pack With Your FVRL Card

Nature Packs circulate through the FVRL system as part of the floating collection. If we don’t have one available at your local library, we can put a hold on the next available backpack and it will be delivered to your nearest FVRL location. You can check availability at your library or search online in the FVRL catalogue.

You may check out your Nature Pack for a three-week loan period. If there are holds on the kit, you may only keep it for two weeks. Please return your kit on time to any FVRL location. The Playground collection is available to FVRL full-access cardholders only. See Getting a Library Card for more details.

FAQs

Why won’t the microscope light turn on?

The battery likely needs replacement. Please return it to the library and inform the staff.

How do I turn off/on the anti-shock on the walking poles?

Please follow the quick-start guide located within the Nature Pack. If you are still experiencing difficulties, please loosen the poles, readjust the extension, and then tighten them again.

If you are still experiencing issues, please take the Nature Pack to your local FVRL library location for support.

What is forest bathing/shinrin-yoku?

Shinrin-yoku or forest bathing is the Japanese-originated practice of relaxation. It is a simple practice of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, and observing nature while breathing deeply. This evidence-based wellness practice helps in lowering stress, and naturally boosts health and well-being.
