FVRL Express

Beginning June 1 you can start picking up library holds using our FVRL Express – Click, Pick, Go. The new contactless service offers customers a physically distanced way to pick up library holds and return items at all 25 locations.

How to Use FVRL Express

  1. Browse the catalogue and place holds now!
  2. Staff will pick and package the holds, and send an email when they are ready for pick up.
  3. Plan to pick up your items on your next essential outing or within 3 weeks of receiving the email. Please check your local library’s hours of operation prior to heading out.
  4. When you arrive at your pick up library follow all ground markings and signs to the pickup point. Ensure you maintain a safe physical distance of two meters, or six feet, between you and other customers at all times when in the queue.
  5. At the pickup point, show your library card or ID. Library staff will retrieve your packaged holds, place them outside the door, and motion to you when it’s safe to step forward and retrieve your package

Book Drops will reopen June 1. However there is no rush to return materials checked out to you prior to the closures – late fines will not accrue. You may only return items that fit through the book drop slot - please hold on to any oversized item (e.g. Playground item) until we can physically accept them back.

FVRL Express Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect when I arrive to pick up my FVRL Express items?

Each location will have clearly marked queues, physical distancing ground markers and signage to safely guide you to the pick-up area.
  1. Please wait in the marked queue on one of the appropriately spaced physical distancing markers until it is safe to proceed towards the pickup point.
  2. When you reach the front of the line, have your library card(s) or ID ready to show library staff at the window. If you do not see a staff person please call the number listed on the window.
  3. Library staff will verify your card(s)/ID.
  4. Your checked out item(s) will be placed in a bag outside the pickup point for contactless pickup. Only move forward to retrieve your bag(s) once the library staff have motioned for you to do so.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to closing so that staff can properly prepare your holds. If you, or a member of your household, is feeling sick or in isolation, we ask that you refrain from coming to the library to pick up holds.

Is it safe to borrow library materials during the COVID-19 pandemic?

FVRL is taking all precautions to ensure that library materials are safe to be borrowed including quarantining returned materials for 3 days. Following the physical distancing ground markers and signage during pick up will help ensure your experience is as safe as possible.

Are book drops open for returns?

Book drops will be open 24/7 beginning June 1. Only items that fit through the book the drop can be returned at this time. I recently returned an item, why does it still show as checked out on my account?

Returned items will be quarantined for approximately three days before they are checked in. No fines will accrue.

We are currently not charging fines on any late materials. This includes materials that were borrowed prior to the closure. We understand that some customers may not able to return their items right now due to social distancing. Please note that exceptionally long-overdue items will be billed.
