Specdrums at FVRL
Specdrums are the perfect pairing of music and technology. STEAM learning generally works the left side of the brain, however making music works the right side of the brain and supports arts education – the “A” in STEAM. Specdrums provide an accessible, portable, and tactile way for anyone to discover music creation.
Easy for beginners to explore but open-ended for advanced musicians to get creative, Specdrums’ app enabled rings expand your musical horizons by turning colours into sound. Connect to the Specdrums app (available free from Google Play and Apple App Store) and tap on anything – your clothes, drawings, or the included play pad – to create and mix any sounds, beats, and loops that all play through your mobile device. Jam on your own or with friends, anytime and anywhere.
Borrowing Specdrums With Your FVRL Card
Want to borrow Specdrums? It’s easy! All you need is an FVRL card. Specdrums circulate through the FVRL system as part of the floating collection. If we don’t have one available at your local library, we can put a hold on the next available and it will be delivered to your nearest FVRL location. You can check availability at your library or search online in the FVRL catalogue.
You may check out your Specdrums for a three-week loan period. (If there are holds on the kit, you may only keep it for two weeks.) Please return your Specdrums on time to any FVRL location. The Specdrums collection is available to FVRL full access cardholders only. See Getting a Library Card for more details.
