Cubetto (in-library experience)
Cubetto is a part of The Playground at FVRL and is an in-library experience.
What is Cubetto?
Cubetto is a friendly wooden robot that teaches children the basics of computer programming through stories and hands-on play. Kids can use Cubetto to learn the basics of coding, logic and pattern recognition. There are no screens to stare at and no reading to do – perfect for young children, ages 3 and up! Cubetto offers a fun first step into the world of programming while encouraging imagination and exploration.
Why Cubetto at FVRL?
The FVRL Playground offers a variety of learning experiences and lending collections to foster STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning for all ages. Cubetto introduces skills and concepts that will prepare kids for the digital economy of their future. There is no screen, which makes it an ideal learning tool for the very young. The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends limiting screen time for children under five years old and emphasizing learning in real time interactions.
Older children with an interest in programming and coding may enjoy our other Playground robots:
- Ozobots – in-library experience
- Sphero SPRK+ – lending collection and in-library experience
