POLICY ADMINISTRATION POLICY

  1. POLICY STATEMENT
    The Board of Fraser Valley Regional Library is responsible for setting and approving all policies that govern FVRL’s business. Policies provide a reference work for Board members, employees, and the public of how FVRL is governed.
  2. PURPOSE
    To provide standards to support the effective development and maintenance of policies.
  3. SCOPE
    This Policy applies to all Board Policies and Operational Policies.
  4. POLICY FORMAT
    Policy Documents should include some or all of the following sections as appropriate, and may include other sections:
    1. Policy Statement (Mandatory)
    2. Purpose (Mandatory)
    3. Scope (Mandatory)
    4. Definitions (Optional)
    5. Related Documents (Optional)
  5. DEFINITIONS
    Board Policy
    A deliberate system of principles to guide decisions and achieve rational outcomes. It provides corporate direction and must be consistent with the strategic directions and values of the organization.
    Operational Policy
    A policy that guides practical implementation of Board Policies. At the discretion of the FVRL Board, some operational policies will be approved as part of the Board Policy approval process.
    Procedure
    A description of the specific steps required to complete a task or function.
    Supporting Documents
    Items that further explain or enhance a policy or procedure. This may include Terms of Reference, Forms, Guidelines or Manuals.
