Babytime - Read, Sing and Talk to Me!

A unique 20-25 minute drop-in program for babies, newborn to 23 months that introduces them and a parent/caregiver to the world of children's literature, song, rhyme and rhythm.

Are you interested in talking about books with other readers? New members are always welcome. Classics to new titles are discussed in a casual setting. Books are provided.

If you are between the ages of 9 - 12 and you love to read and talk to other kids about the books you've read, but have never been in the Kids' Book Club before, join the monthly Kids' Book Club. Laughter Yoga

Celebrate laughing for no reason and just for the health of it. Laughter Yoga is a technique of breathing and easy movement exercises designed to teach the body to laugh without depending on jokes or humour.
Imagine: Ideas that Challenge the Status Quo

Author Alex Sangha will read and lead a discussion on topics from his book Imagine: Ideas that Challenge the Status Quo. His book encourages readers to think critically about their most cherished beliefs and values. Sangha envisions a world with more caring and sharing. Are humans capable of creating such a society? If we can understand our similarities and difference, he believes, we have taken the first step.
Kids Day Off @ the Library - Ventriloquist Kellie Haines

On this non-instructional day ventriloquist Kellie Haines will delight and amaze children in primary grades and their parent/caregiver(s) with her lively, interactive and free performance. Kellie draws on her background in theatre, puppetry, dance and clowning as she explores a wide variety of topics with humour, compassion and boundless energy. Drop-in.
Hindi and Punjabi Poetry

Come join us as well-known Hindi and Punjabi Gazal writer Gurdershan Singh Badal and famous Hindi poet Jatinder present their work. Gurdershan has recently published his six books on Guzzals and Punjabi songs. Jatinder writes about social issues of the Indian society.
Homeschoolers' Open House

Come meet other homeschoolers and library staff for an introduction to library resources. Younger students will be treated to storytime while parents and tweens/teens will be shown key databases for home study. Light refreshments will be served.
Antique ID Clinic
Saturday, Oct 16th

Rustle through the basement, dust of those collectibles and bring them to the Delta Museum and Archives Antique Identification and Appraisal Clinic at the George Mackie Library. Well-known antique appraiser Al Bowen is able to identify and date objects from any historical period and will provide a detailed history, description and verbal appraisal of your objects. (Have a large item you want appraised? Please just bring in a photograph). Stay for tea and listen to Mr. Bowen's wealth of information about other people's treasures (2:30 - 4:00 pm). Space is limited. To register, visit or call the Delta Museum and Archives at 604-946-9322. Cost: $12/person. Observers are welcome at $5 per person at the door)
Antarctic Adventure with Ursula Easterbrook

"A trip to Antarctica is not only the dream, but also the adventure of a lifetime" (Ursula Easterbrook). Photographic Artist Ursula Easterbrook returns to Ladner Pioneer Library to share her spectacular photos from her 4-week trip with Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris to Antarctica. Ursula's trip began in Ushuaia, Argentina (the world's southernmost city) and continued to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and on to the Antarctic Peninsula. Come hear about her trip and delight in her breathtaking photos of penguins, icebergs, whales, sea lions, elephant seals, birds and more!

Financial Literacy for Women
