Outside the Box: Celebration of Art in Fibre

In partnership with the City of White Rock, White Rock Museum & Archives, and Tourism White Rock we are celebrating the 4th Annual Outside the Box Celebration of Art in Fibre!

There will be a special exhibition of fibre and textile art featuring the internationally know Four in Fibre artists Judy Alexander, Elizabeth Carefoot, Anni Hunt and Pauline McLean Dutkowski, displays by the Piece Arch Quilters, demonstrations by the Semiahmoo Guild of Needlecrafts, the Peace Arch Weavers and Spinners Guild, and more!

Meet world renowned artists and watch the creative process live! Deborah Putman, BFA Concordia, is a professional visual artist and an accomplished portraitist. The sacred relationships between human beings, creatures and the natural world inspire her artworks as in her collaborative public art mosaic, Kwomais: A Place of Vision for the city of Surrey, and her Totems in the Divining Natures exhibition, 2013 at Surrey Art Gallery. Her work methods include drawing, social justice exhibitions, public art mosaic work and paintings, which have been exhibited across Canada, in France and Japan. Master Artists in the Library - Elizabeth Carefoot

Elizabeth Carefoot is an extraordinary multi-talented artist. After graduating from UBC and Emily Carr College, she trained as a cine-animator with Disney Studios. Carefoot enjoyed a career spanning 35 years as a Cine-Animator, a Graphic Designer and illustrator at Simon Fraser University. Carefoot also trained as a Middle Eastern dancer in Egypt, the U.S and locally, and has performed professionally in that capacity for 30 years. She continues to teach dance and culture, and give lectures on Middle Eastern costume and customs. City of Langley Library is getting a new look in conjunction with the Timms Community Centre renewal project. The library will be open regular hours during the renovation!

All FVRL locations, including the Administrative Centre, will be closed for a Staff Professional Development Day on Friday, September 12.
