Aboriginal Artist in Residence: Darlene Allison

Celebrate National Aboriginal History Month this June at FVRL! Join us as we welcome Aboriginal Artist in Residence – Darlene Allison. She is skilled in drawing, painting and sculpture, but her focus for the past 14 years has been on carving alabasters and soap stones, some of which she gathered herself from mountains right here in BC. Darlene will be demonstrating her soapstone carving in multiple FVRL locations, chatting with public and presenting programs to groups of all ages! Volunteer as a reading buddy to a child in grades K to 3 to help them improve their reading skills. Show your buddy how cool reading is! This is also a great opportunity to gain volunteer hours for your community work experience requirement and will look awesome on your resume. Teens in grades 8 to 12 may pick up an application at the Terry Fox Library information desk. The sessions will be six weeks.
