Aboriginal Artist in Residence: Darlene Allison

Celebrate National Aboriginal History Month this June at FVRL! Join us as we welcome Aboriginal Artist in Residence – Darlene Allison. She is skilled in drawing, painting and sculpture, but her focus for the past 14 years has been on carving alabasters and soap stones, some of which she gathered herself from mountains right here in BC. Darlene will be demonstrating her soapstone carving in multiple FVRL locations, chatting with public and presenting programs to groups of all ages! Based on the Arthritis Self-Management Program, this two hour forum introduces participants to self-management skills and the principles of pain management. Learn about the physical causes of pain in arthritis, better management of stress and fatigue, and the benefits of exercise and using medications wisely.

Birding in BC: Attracting Birds to Your Backyard

The Reading Buddies program pairs elementary school children with high school students for 45 minutes of reading practice each week. Partners meet on Mondays after school. For kids in grades 1 to 3. Register beginning March 10.
