WORLD LANGUAGES

Posted March 2nd, 2009 Updated March 2nd, 2009

To better serve the culturally diverse communities that FVRL operates in we have established a World Languages Collection containing 14 different languages. The collection is designed to meet the needs of native speakers of a variety of European, Asian and Middle Eastern languages.

The collection is shared between our 24 libraries and is made up of 42,000 items including adult and children’s fiction and non-fiction print material, as well as DVDs and CDs. These materials are listed in the online catalogue and are kept current by an annual infusion of new titles.

FVRL collects material in the following languages:

Our Welcome Brochure, available at any FVRL location, has also been translated into these languages, and provides information about FVRL’s available resources.

FVRL thanks the Joint Diversity and Training Trust of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1518 and Overwaitea Foods Group through its Save-On-Foods and Overwaitea Foods Stores for their contribution to benefit the families of the diverse working people in our communities by increasing FVRL's collection of bilingual pictures books for children.
